What to Expect
The one week long camp is a mixture of lectures and hands-on labs. The camp usually starts about 8:00 am and concludes around 4:30 pm. During the day, you will seamlessly move back and forth between traditional lecture instruction and hands-on labs that give you reinforcement to what you just learned.
At the end of the camp, participants receive a “goody” bag of the starting materials needed for the hands-on experiments for you to do in your classroom. CurriculumView the Teachers Camp Curriculum (pdf) for examples of the curriculum covered during a typical one-week workshop.
Professional Development HoursMealsThe camp provides a complimentary hot breakfast each morning and lunch to all registered participants each day of the camp. On the last day of the camp, an awards luncheon banquet is held at TBD. If you would like to have dinner, below are a few links to available options in Tuscaloosa as well as things to do in the evening.
AttireAttire is casual. However, participants should wear jeans and closed-toe shoes during the camp. This is for your safety in being in the labs and doing the hands-on experiments. Wearing flip-flops, sandals and shorts will prevent you from participating in the labs. Also, if you have long hair, please pull back in a ponytail when in the lab.
